The nested rings drawn on real maps: step through the levels the Index adds up, and the wider views it only reads. Outlines are rough in this first version. The nesting rule is simple: a neighbourhood's readings travel whole into the city, the city's into the region — and stop there. Each level's reading is the same sum: DIDO — data in, data out, what a place can make and share — times (1 − PITO) — products in, trash out, what it still imports and wastes — times ρ, how fast a city turns what it learns into action. The bioregion — the natural region a city sits in — and the planet draw dashed and faint because they are context, never levels that add up.

Barcelona is the deep pilot, drawn at all three nested levels, with its bioregion dashed above them. Boston, Santiago and Bali show up as single markers for now; their rings arrive once live data is flowing. Every outline here is hand-drawn and rough: it teaches the nesting rule, it does not claim real borders. The point is the same one every page makes: three levels add up, two are only read, and the iron line in the ladder is where that difference sits.
